“How much is a Jordanian passport?” has no single answer, because the price depends on the route and on whether the investment is in Amman or in another governorate. I checked all figures below on 28 October 2026 in the Ministry of Investment criteria and the Cabinet amendments of 15 July 2026.

All thresholds in one table

RouteIn dinarsAbout in dollarsHolding period

New project outside AmmanJOD 500,000$705,0003 years with temporary passport

The dollar figures use about $1.41 per dinar, the rate BRIDGES applies on its programme page. The dinar is pegged to the dollar, so these figures move very little, but I did not verify the peg on the Central Bank of Jordan website and treat the dollar amounts as indicative.

The route without capital

The employment route has no money threshold at all: 150 Jordanian employees in Amman or 100 elsewhere, registered with the Social Security Corporation for at least a year, kept for two consecutive years with a written undertaking. In practice this is for large employers already operating in Jordan.

What the thresholds do not include

  • company incorporation and the bank account;
  • the feasibility study and audited financial statements, required for the stake route;
  • salaries and social security for the Jordanian staff on the productive routes;
  • translations, notarisation and legalisation of family documents;
  • professional support, which every firm prices separately.

The criteria I read do not set government fees for the application. I did not find a published fee schedule, so I would ask for the fees in writing before filing.

Why Amman costs more

The government steers capital into the governorates on purpose. A new project needs JOD 700,000 in the capital and JOD 500,000 elsewhere, and an existing investor needs an average of JOD 700,000 against JOD 350,000. The job requirement is also halved outside the capital.

Money that stays yours

There is no donation in this programme. On the stock exchange route the investor may not withdraw any funds, including trading profits, for five years. On the stake route the new shares are frozen for three years. After that the asset can be sold, but neither the state nor anyone else guarantees its value. The stock exchange rules are explained in a separate guide.

Results so far

BRIDGES reports, citing the Ministry of Investment, that investors brought JOD 72 million in the first half of 2026 against JOD 37 million a year earlier and created 820 jobs against 230. I did not find these figures on an official page. The Ministry of Interior reported on 12 October 2026 that 100 foreign investors received citizenship between 1 January and 1 October 2026.

Questions and answers

What is the cheapest way to Jordanian citizenship?

For an investor who already runs a business outside Amman: an average share of JOD 350,000 in fixed assets over the last three audited years and an average of 10 Jordanian employees. For a newcomer: a new project with JOD 500,000 of paid-up capital outside Amman and 10 Jordanian jobs.

How much is it in dollars?

BRIDGES uses about $1.41 per dinar. JOD 500,000 is about $705,000, JOD 700,000 about $987,000, JOD 1,000,000 about $1.41 million and JOD 1,500,000 about $2.12 million.

Is the money returned?

It is not a contribution. The shares, the stake or the company remain the investor's property, but the holding periods of three to five years apply and the market risk stays with the investor.

Are there government fees?

The criteria I read do not list fees. Incorporation, audit, translations, legalisation and professional support are priced separately for each project.
